Workstation
A well-balanced workstation frequently replaces a rented cluster node at a fraction of the recurring cost. We size memory, GPUs and I/O against your workload and check that the office power and cooling actually support the build.
Typical configuration
CAD / simulation; AI with 1× 96 GB GPU; multi-GPU
Investment range
€4–12k | AI: €12–25k | multi-GPU: €30–90k
What this tier involves
- Typical role
- Simulation, GPU rendering, ML prototyping
- Power & thermal
- Up to ~1.5–4 kW; may need a dedicated circuit and extraction
- Delivery
- Sizing, integration & performance validation
- Fee
- Basic €150–500 | Platinum €0.4–8k | Supreme €30–80/workstation/month
Indicative figures, August 2026, excluding VAT. High volatility on GPUs and memory — firm quotes are valid for 30–60 days. The final price is set at scoping.
What matters at this scale
Workstation sizing balances memory, VRAM, storage and cooling against the workload and the environment the machine runs in.
- ISV certification
- Drivers certified by the CAD and simulation vendors, for stability under critical workloads
- Resource balance
- System memory is sized in proportion to VRAM, and NVMe storage to the volume of the datasets
- Multi-GPU
- Multi-GPU builds are validated at chassis level: PCIe lanes, power delivery and airflow path
- Dedicated circuit
- High-power builds require a dedicated electrical circuit and a check of the room's heat load
- Common stack
- The software stack is aligned with the cluster's, so local prototypes run in production without changes
